I grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the only rectangular state, then got a degree in classics in Montana. Since then, I’ve been working odd jobs and traveling. I don’t remember the last time I stayed in one place for two years, which means that Vladimir must have something special about it. I love music, from Katy Perry to Gorgoroth, and spend my free time walking, biking, reading, and thinking about dictators.

Tyson Trotz, преподаватель английского языка

Тротз, Тайсон Джаред, Sewanee, the University of the South

Здравствуйте! My name is Tyson Trotz and I am proud to be an English teacher at the American Home. I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, but both my parents come from Manitoba, Canada. As a child, my two greatest passions were history and nature and not much has changed since then. My interest in Russian was first sparked by my family’s Slavic heritage, leading me to the beautiful rural campus of Sewanee, the University of the South where I double majored in History and Russian. In the summer of 2011 I did a summer study abroad in St. Petersburg and have returned several times since then. I moved to Vladimir and began teaching English at the American Home in August of 2015 and am now returning for my second year. I enjoy spending time with my friends, going to the dacha, reading, and physical activity.

Andrew Morse, преподаватель английского языка

Howdy y’all! My name is Andrew Morse and I’m from Houston, Texas. I graduated from Wesleyan University in 2015 with a major in Economics. I’ve been in Vladimir for one year and I must say, it has been an incredible and amazing experience––every day is an adventure! In my free time, I like to read about philosophy, sit in nature, and I LOVE to cook! I’m thrilled to be teaching at the American Home again and I’m looking forward to the upcoming year with our students and new teachers!

At the University of Florida, he majored in history and minored in Russian as well as Central and Eastern European Studies. Luke enjoys being active, exploring and exercising; he participates in triathlon and is on track to win the individual title for the Florida Collegiate Triathlon Conference this year. He is very excited to teach English with the American home, improve his Russian language skills and learn more about the locals in Vladimir, Russia. Helinek, Jennifer Joan, Williams College, Massachusetts

My name is Jennifer Helinek, and I was born and raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.  I studied Comparative Literature at Williams College, and last year I worked as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in the Czech Republic.  Falling in love with one Slavic language (Czech) led me to fall for another (Russian).  After my time in Vladimir, I’d like to pursue some combination of Slavic Studies and International Relations.  In my free time I love reading, watching sports, and singing.  I can’t wait to join the team in Vladimir this fall!

During the 2013-2014 academic year, she studied at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences of Saint Petersburg State University, where she taught conversational English to Russian adults and university students.
